The versatile DB will pay dividends

One of the most exciting and most needed players in this class is four-star defensive back Noa Pola-Gates. The product from Arizona is a top-50 prospect overall and is listed by 247 sports as the No. 18 corner.

However, he has also played a lot of safety, which leads you to ask what position he will play at Nebraska. Obviously, I am not on the coaching staff but if I had my choice, I’d play Pole-Gates at both and his perfect position may just be a slot corner, which at times, can be like play corner and safety.

If you watched Pola-Gates during the All-American Bowl, he did well covering in the slot. He’s is very smooth and in today’s game, with so many spread offenses, having a kid like that who can run, cover and tackle is vital.

That lack of speed and playmaking ability hurt Nebraska last season, which is why it wouldn’t be shocking to see Pola-Gates have a role on defense from day one.
