Nebraska’s fortunes are sinking with Palmer
When Nebraska basketball was playing at its peak this season, there was talk that James Palmer was going to be a candidate for Player of the Year. However, after another poor performance on the road Saturday, he’s probably not even guaranteed to earn First-Team All-Big Ten.
Early in the season, Palmer put together a number of big outings in key wins over Clemson, Seton Hall and Creighton, but during this string of seven losses in nine games, Palmer has only shot better than 40 percent three times.
Against Illinois, Palmer scored 20 points but he made just 6-of-20 shots from the field and was 2-of-7 from 3-point range. Obviously, not having Copeland anymore has put more of the bulk on his shoulders, however, it’s becoming clear he’s just not good enough to handle that.
Don’t get me wrong, Palmer is one of the better players Nebraska has had in a long time, but the bottom line is that he just isn’t as good as we once through earlier this season.
