Nebraska Football has Evans on their radar.

With many of Nebraska football’s 2019 recruits already enrolled in the program, and National Signing Day next week, we can start looking ahead to 2020 recruiting. Nebraska football was no exception to this as they offered five-star defensive and Desmond Evans on Thursday morning.

Evans is ranked as the No. 22 player in his class, the third overall weak-side defensive end in his class and the top player in the state of North Carolina per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Evans has many offers under his belt already. Alabama, Clemson, Duke, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi State, and Penn State are among the offers he has received. It is safe to say that he is being recruited highly. One thing we do know about his recruiting process is that Alabama has enlisted tdefensive line coach Tosh Lupoi, who is currently recruiting him. It is safe to say that Nebraska is in good company with that list.

We have already seen head coach Scott Frost work his magic on the recruiting trail a couple times so far during his tenure as Nebraska football head coach. He will certainly have to work hard again in order to land Evans. Beating out programs like Nebraska and Alabama is no easy task, but he has done that as well. It’s too early to predict where Evans will land right now, as a lot can change during the recruiting process. If there is one good sign, it is that he is on Nebraska’s radar. It also goes back to the fact that they are not afraid to compete with some of the more well-known schools for recruits.

What could Evans bring to Nebraska? The first thing that stands out to me while watching his film is the fact that he is always active. As soon as the ball is snapped he tries to get by his man and get to the quarterback. If he can’t get there he has tremendous jumping ability, which works in his favor in order to bat passes down. Something tells me that the offers listed above will not be his only offers. Especially with the talent he possesses, he could be a name to watch in the 2020 class.

It is nice that Nebraska is getting an early start on 2020 recruiting. After all, nothing in college football is guaranteed, including commitments. It will be interesting to see if Nebraska football is listed as one of Evans’s top schools at the end of the process.
