Nance could be an important piece for Nebraska Football in the future.

Remember the name Jamie Nance? If you don’t, that is quite alright. The 2019 athlete committed to Nebraska Football on June 29, 2018. Although he may not be the most talented player in his class, one thing stands out about him. He has tremendous speed, a skill that may quite literally allow him to run all over the Big 10 as a wide receiver.

A three-star recruit at the time of his commitment, Nance is the No. 523 player in his class, the No. 30 overall athlete (he was an athlete at the time of his recruitment) and the seventh overall player in his class from the state of Oklahoma per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Nance had a wild recruiting process. He first began receiving offers from teams around the beginning of April 2018. Hus first offer came from the Baylor Bears on April 4. After offers from Texas State and TCU made their way to Nance’s proverbial desk, Nebraska football offered him a scholarship on April 18.  Following the Nebraska offer, his next offer came from Notre Dame on May 13.

Here is where the interesting part comes in. He named his preferred teams on June 28, but apparently made up his mind rather quickly. He officially committed to Nebraska football on June 29. He took one more official visit to Lincoln on October 20, before putting his pen to paper by making an official commitment during the early signing day in December. Nance officially enrolled on campus January 7.

What can he bring to Nebraska football? He can bring his speed, that is almost a guarantee. He played on both sides of the football at Blanchard (Oklahoma) High School and performed well. He tallied 15 total touchdowns and three interceptions in addition to 3,952 all-purpose yards. In watching his highlights, it is easy to see what the Huskers saw in him. As soon as he catches the football, he is shifty and quick.

It is fascinating to watch him run. He uses his shiftiness to slither around defenders and find his way into the end zone. Measuring in at six feet, 160 pounds, he will definitely need to put some weight on before the season if he wants to have any chance of playing. Chances are, that will not be a problem.  Once he does that, he could be a major weapon for the Nebraska Football passing game in the coming years. He is the type of player that could excel at runs after the catch, and it is always nice to have wideouts who are proficient in that area.
