Nebraska Basketball looks to get back on track against Ohio State.

Nebraska basketball is looking to right the ship against a tough Ohio State Buckeyes team. In their last contest, Nebraska basketball did not look good at all. They played  down to their competition and were defeated by Rutgers by a 76-69 margin.

If there was one bright spot, it was the play of James Palmer. After struggling the last couple of games, he appeared to return to form scoring 22 points on 7-of-18 shooting. In addition, he went 5-of-9 from the free-throw line. Issac Copeland provided adequate secondary scoring, chipping in 16 points. However much like Palmer, he was very inefficient, going 7-of-15 from the field and 2-of-6 from behind the arc.

For Ohio State, they lost to an upstart Purdue team by a 79-67 score. A late Ohio State rally was not enough as the Boilermakers took control at the end and managed to come away with the victory. For Ohio State, junior Andre Wesson led the way in scoring. He tallied 22 points, and went 9-of-10 from the field. In addition he showed he was effective behind the three-point line going 3-of-4 from downtown.

Nebraska basketball needs to keep an eye on Wesson if they want to win this game. He can do it all, as he is the team’s leading scorer and rebounder. He has recorded 15.3 points per game and has snagged 6.6 rebounds per contest on the season. Wesson also has active hands as his 16 steals on the season places him the third on the team with that total. C. J. Jackson is another player that Nebraska basketball needs to watch out for. Scoring 12.7 points per game on the season, he has provided a great weapon for Ohio State in terms of secondary output.

Nebraska basketball has the edge over the Buckeyes in the Kenpom rankings. The Huskers hold a slot in the No. 14 spot while Ohio State holds a spot in the rankings at No. 39.

Key to the Game

This may seem kind of obvious, but Nebraska basketball needs to make sure that they are aware of where the ball is going at all times. Ohio State ranks fourth in the conference with 591 assists in 13 games. That breaks down to 32.8 assists per contest. They are very good at finding the open man and are not afraid to take shots. Nebraska basketball needs to make sure that they stay in front of the shooters and limit their airspace to get shots off. They also need to be aware of the fact that Ohio State is hungry. They have lost five in a row and are looking to rebound and get back into the thick of conference play.
