The Huskers need to get better at 3’s

When you play a team like Michigan State there are certain things you need to do win. For starters, you have to hold your own on the boards and in Thursday’s game, Nebraska did that. Michigan State won the overall battle by four, however, the Huskers won the battle on the offensive glass 15-10.

The Huskers also won the turnover battle 15-9. Yet, Nebraska couldn’t win from the 3-point line and that is what cost them against the Spartans. At one point in the second half, the Huskers, who finished 5-of-26 from 3-point range, missed 15 shots in a row from deep.

This was all when the game was still within a possession or two. And Nebraska didn’t just miss 3’s. James Palmer, who scored 24 points and was 11-of-11 from the free throw line, missed a bunch of shots inside too.

Palmer did a great job of getting to the bucket and creating, but he couldn’t finish, kind of like Nebraska basketball as a whole. NU had Michigan State right where it wanted, but after shooting 19 percent from three and 32 percent overall, the Huskers couldn’t close the deal.
