Nebraska football has stayed busy on the recruiting trail this week, as coaches are traveling across the country. Here is a wrapup of who they are after.

For some teams across the country, much of their recruiting work is already done. But when it comes to Nebraska football, the Huskers are keeping busy on the recruiting trail as they try their best to add key players to the 2019 class.

While Nebraska football has gotten some good news this week, with the signing of junior college running back Dedrick Mills, as well as positive indications that it is the favorite to land four-star defensive back Noa Pola-Gates, the NU coaching staff is out traveling in an effort to add more talent.

And one player who garnered a visit from Nebraska running backs coach Ryan Held was four-star running back John Bivens, a member of the 2019 class. Bivens is undecided but also has interest from Cincinnati and Kentucky among others.

The Huskers interest in Bivens may surprise some, especially with Mills, Wandale Robinson, Rahmir Johnson and Ronald Thompkins already in the fold, however, Bivens could add a different dimension as a bigger back. Robinson is certainly more of an all-purpose guy (Thompkins is too) and with the way the Huskers want to pound the rock, another talented runner isn’t a bad thing.

Certainly, Nebraska football is interested in adding players on the other side of the ball too and accordingly, Husker assistants Erik Chinander, the defensive coordinator, and secondary coach Travis Fisher, were in Alabama visiting cornerback DJ James, another 2019 target Tuesday.

James just visited Nebraska football last weekend but also has visits lined up at Oregon and Iowa before making a final decision, so you can see why the Huskers decided to drop by and see him.

Unlike Bivens, who doesn’t have any predictions on 247 sports as of yet, James is predicted to go to Auburn, meaning the Huskers should have their work cut for them. Parker Gabriel of the Journal Star also reported Nebraska spent more time in Alabama offering a number of 2020 prospects.

Last but not least, on the Pola-Gates front, he should be announcing his decision on Saturday during the Polynesian Bowl.
