Nebraska Basketball picked up the key road win over Indiana on Monday.

Nebraska basketball came into Monday’s contest against Indiana looking to break a streak. They had not recorded a road win against a top 25 team since December 28, 2016. The losing party in that contest? Indiana took the defeat in that one. Nebraska basketball was looking for history to repeat itself, and it did as the Huskers picked up a big win in front of a raucous Assembly Hall crowd.

This game was a weird game. Nebraska basketball took control early. They took a large lead early, with the game at one point being 25-7. However, Indiana made sure that large lead did not last long. They kept fighting, and clawed their way back. Isaiah Roby and Romeo Langford paced the scoring for both teams. This was another case where Indiana keyed on James Palmer. As a result, other players had to step up and handle the scoring load, and they did. Along with Roby, Issac Copeland was a key option for secondary scoring. In the meantime, Langford handled the majority of the scoring for Indiana in the first frame. Additional contributions from Juwan Morgan helped Indiana go on an 11-0 run and Indiana was able to keep the game close. A clutch three-pointer gave Nebraska basketball a 29-20 lead towards the end of the first frame but it was clear that as the horn rang for halftime, Indiana and the crowd were getting back into it.

At the buzzer, Nebraska held a 31-22 lead and although that may seem like a comfortable lead the way the game was trending, it was not.

The second half was a tight one yet Nebraska took control throughout the course of the game. They didn’t try to do too much, they just stayed within their game. Issac Copeland scored the first basket for Nebraska and from there Nebraska took control of the game. They had a balanced scoring attack from all players involved and they continued to do what they do best. They moved without the basketball smoothly. They made their three-point shots. More importantly, they did a much better job of rebounding the basketball. There were still instances where rebounding was an issue. However, they managed to clean it up enough and come away with the victory. The final score ended up being 66-51 in favor of Nebraska.

Glynn Watson  was the leading scorer for Nebraska basketball in this one. He scored 15 points. Issac Copeland dropped in 14, having another strong game. James Palmer would finish with 11. Again, that was not his highest number but other members of the team stepped up and contributed to the victory. That will be important come March. Langford was Indiana’s leading scorer in this one. He had 18 points and played like he was not a freshman. He looked very polished Monday night.

With the win, Nebraska improved to 13-4 on the season. They now have a. 500 record in conference play. The Cornhuskers will face the sixth-ranked Michigan State Spartans on Thursday. Tipoff is 8:00 PM EST.
