A good start could go a long way
Against both Maryland and Minnesota, Nebraska basketball started well and wasn’t able to finish, losing to the Gophers in overtime and the Terrapins on a last-second shot. In the last road game against Iowa though, the Huskers started slow and never really recovered.
That can’t happen against Indiana. The Hoosiers haven’t played at home since school returned to session and fans should be amped up for this one. Yet, Nebraska also is no slouch and actually ranks 15th in the Kempom rankings compared to 25th for Indiana.
Both teams are very strong defensively and while the Hoosiers have a star freshman in Langford, a 6-foot-6 wing, they are a gritty defensive team. Nebraska is built in much the same way as both teams rely heavily on their stars.
For the Huskers, James Palmer must be particularly good and he can’t wait to get things going until the second half. When Nebraska basketball is winning, Palmer is playing exceptionally well and in the biggest wins this year over Seton Hall, Clemson and Creighton, he has been off the hook.
That needs to be the case against Monday night. What would help is some buckets early for both Palmer and the Huskers as a whole to get them believing early they can steal a road win.
