After four days off following Wednesday’s win  over Penn State,  Nebraska basketball continues conference play on the road against Iowa.

Nebraska basketball is set to take on the 22nd -ranked Indiana Hoosiers Monday in a game that could have major implications for the Top 25. On the road at Assembly Hall, this game will be anything but easy. Last time out, Nebraska basketball struggled against Penn State, keeping the Nittany Lions in the game throughout it. However, they managed to pull away at the end of the contest, and Isaiah Roby led the way. He scored a career-high 22 points, and made a couple of key defensive plays to guide the Cornhuskers to a 70-64 victory.

In the meantime, Indiana dropped a close contest to Maryland, a team that also gave Nebraska trouble. Freshman guard Romeo Langford scored 28 points while Junior guard Devonte Green chipped in 15. Nevertheless, it was not enough to stop Maryland who has been on a hot streak as of late. They will certainly be looking for a bounce back win against this Nebraska basketball team.

These two teams are relatively close in the Kenpom rankings. Nebraska has the advantage as they are in the No. 15 slot, while Indiana makes the cut at No. 25. Both teams come into this game with a 12-4 record. However, Indiana has the record advantage in conference play. They enter Monday’s game with a 3-2 mark, while Nebraska sits a couple slots below them in the standings with a 2-3 mark.

Nebraska needs to key in on Langford. He is Indiana’s leading scorer with 18.8 points per game. His 51.3 field goal percentage is not too shabby either. He can get baskets in a hurry, and Indiana will need him to be at his best on Monday.  Juwan Morgan leads the Hoosiers in rebounds with 7.8 rebounds per contest. Morgan averages 16.5 points per contest on the season and it would not be a stretch to say that Indiana has a dynamic duo.

Key to the Game

This may sound a little bit like a cliché key to the game, but perhaps as Nebraska takes on Indiana this could not be more important. Nebraska basketball needs to play good defense. The Hoosiers are tops in the Big Ten conference field goal percentage. With a. 518 mark, they are difficult to stop. Nebraska needs to make sure that they stay in front of their man and close out on shooters properly. If not, it could be a long night. This is a game that Nebraska must have and in order to do that, they need to take away Indiana’s best shooters, primarily Langford.
