Huskers schedule sets up well for a run
Say what you want about Nebraska football in 2018, but the Huskers had a tough schedule. They had to play at Northwestern, at Wisconsin, at Iowa, at Ohio State and at Michigan. All five of those teams won eight games and four finished ranked in the final top 25.
This season, Nebraska will still play all of those teams, outside of Michigan, however, all four of those meetings will come in Lincoln at Memorial Stadium. That will give the Huskers a chance to beat a team like Ohio State, while also getting to host its top three rivals for the Big Ten West crown.
There are some challenging road games. Minnesota is up-and-coming and playing the Gophers at their place won’t be easy. The Huskers also travel to Colorado, Illinois and Maryland. But for the most part, the toughest games all come at home.
The Huskers will still need to prove they can beat good teams away from home to make the playoff but the Big Ten title game against Ohio State or Michigan could provide that opportunity.
It’s not the toughest schedule, but if the Huskers were able to go 12-1 and win the Big Ten, it might be enough to get them in.
