How Nebraska can win

The bottom line is that there is a reason why Nebraska basketball is an 11-point favorite to win this game. Penn State has been terrible offensively and in Big Ten play, the Nittany Lions have been even worse.

Penn State is scoring under 60 points a game in conference and knocking down just 39 percent of its shots, while shooting a ridiculously bad 19-percent from 3-point range. Some have complained about the Huskers 3-point struggles, but they pale in comparsion to Penn State’s.

Penn State is a decent defensive team and that its best hope of keeping things close against Nebraska. One thing that should help is that unlike some of the teams in the league, Nebraska won’t have a huge size advantage over Penn State, which like Nebraska lacks a real big.

The Huskers have an athletic lineup that can attack the basket and that will be key, but that will lead to open 3-point attempts and Nebraska has to knock them down against a Penn State team that is allowing Big Ten foes to make 37 percent from beyond the arc (13th of 14 teams).

If Nebraska has a solid night shooting the ball and brings its usual intensity on defense, the Huskers should win without too much trouble.
