The Nebraska Basketball commitment is thought of highly in the JUCO circles.
All the work that the Nebraska Football program is putting in on the recruiting trail seems to be rubbing off on the Nebraska basketball team as well. The first edition of the 2019 JucoRecruting.com Top 100 Player Rankings came out on Thursday, and a Nebraska commit was in the mix.
2019 shooting guard Jervay Green, who previously played at Western Nebraska Community College is rated a three-star prospect according to 247Sports. In addition to the offer he had from Nebraska, he was also offered by Colorado State, Houston, Ole Miss, TCU, and Wichita State. He signed with Nebraska on November 15.

He was a truly dynamic player last season , averaging 25.5 points per contest. He had a field-goal percentage of 54.6 % and shot 43.4% from behind the three-point line. He played in 17 games, starting 16 of them.
In watching his highlights, I like the way he plays. He is very smooth with the basketball and is not afraid to drive to the basket. In addition, he is able to shoot the three-point shot. That is certainly a plus in today’s NBA and should serve him well should he make it to the pro ranks. His release is very smooth, and his athleticism was very noticeable. At times, it almost seemed like he was gliding to the basket instead of driving. I’m not saying is career will turn out the same, but his play style reminds me of Jayson Tatum’s.
Much like the Boston Celtics star, Green plays aggressive defense, and is not afraid to initiate contact to get to the free-throw line. Nebraska basketball got a true playmaker with the commitment of Green. He should fit right in with what they are trying to do and provide much-needed scoring once James Palmer leaves. Palmer’s departure will leave a hole in that department and Green should be able to fill it.
I am excited to see how other Nebraska basketball commitments rank against the best in the country. Head coach Tim Miles always seems to put together good recruiting classes, and 2019 is no different. With several key senior players leaving, Nebraska basketball will have to start from scratch once again. Green should be able to be that perfect building block that can help Nebraska basketball win now and in the future. He has enough talent to be able to cement his name as one of the best in the Big Ten Conference in the coming years.
