Nebraska football continues to focus on defense in the final weeks leading up to national signing day and now they will host defensive end, Michael Lockhart.

The Nebraska football program already has an impressive 2019 recruiting class locked up, but that hasn’t stopped the Huskers from doing everything they can to add it on national signing day next month on Feb. 6.

In recent weeks, the Huskers have focused heavily on defense and have a number of defenders they have targeted coming in for visits in the next couple of weeks. One key player that will visit Jan. 25 is three-star outside linebacker Dylan Jordan out of Kansas.

However, the week before Jodan visits, Nebraska football will bring in another guy that it hopes can help its pass rush and that’s Alabama defensive end Michael Lockhart, who will be visiting Nebraska Jan. 18 according to Blair Sanderson of Rivals.com.

When you look at the two targets, Jordan and Lockhart, they are in some ways similar. As far as positions and how they could impact the Huskers next season, they are different. Jordan is a linebacker that has some pass rush skills but can also play in coverage and do some other things, while Lockhart is a 6-foot-5, 250-pound defensive end.

But both Jordan and Lockhart are late risers. Jordan, who interviewed with Husker Corner Tuesday, had only an offer from Kansas State and some FCS schools before Nebraska football, TCU, Utah and Auburn all offered him recently.

Lockhart is also experiencing something similar.  In December, he visited Chattanooga and this month, he is scheduled to visit North Carolina and Nebraska and is also considering a visit to another school such as Colorado, Iowa, Penn State, Georgia Tech, Kansas and Virginia.

Neither player has any crystal ball predictions up on 247 sports and with multiple visits for each guy to take, both players probably have a ways to go before making a decision. The good news for Nebraska is that it has multiple irons on the fire and hopefully, at least one of these guys will choose to come and play for coach Scott Frost.

Nebraska football clearly has momentum on its side right now and the 2019 recruiting period closing soon, that’s not a bad thing to have.
