Nebraska basketball needs to refocus with a tough conference slate ahead.

It seems like everything has been going Nebraska basketball’s way this season. However as of late, they have struggled. Two straight conference losses have dropped Nebraska basketball out of the Top 25 according to the latest Associated Press poll released on Monday.

With the loss, Nebraska basketball drops to 11-4 on the season and 1-3 in conference play. For what it’s worth, they received 15 votes in the poll according to a report from the Omaha World-Herald. For Nebraska basketball, this is the first time in the 2018-19 season that that they have lost back-to-back game

When I watch the games, I see that they have a problem rebounding. They have shot the three-point shot well with the exception of Sunday. Scoring has not been a problem and the amount of depth that Nebraska basketball has may benefit them come postseason play. We have already seen that the program has a bona fide scorer in James Palmer. As as long as he can keep that level of play up throughout the rest of the season, he is the guy that they should look to for scoring options.

Heading into the contest with Penn State on Thursday, Nebraska needs to make sure that they come out focused and ready to play a physical type of game. This is not a conference where you can rest on your laurels and expect to win games. This is a conference where, if you lose, that could set you back majorly. Following the Penn State game, Nebraska heads out on the road to face 22nd -ranked Indiana. That should be another tough contest for head coach Tim Miles and the program.

Although they have hit a speed bump in what has been an impressive season so far, they could certainly bounce back. If they win against Penn State, they will have good momentum heading into Indiana Monday. This is the time of year where I really enjoy watching college basketball. The games get tougher, the in-conference matchups get physical, and teams truly play like their seasons’ are on the line. Nebraska has the talent to go deep into the postseason, they just need to execute.

Of course that is easy for me to say sitting at my computer. It would just be so frustrating to see a season go to waste. This team has too much talent to miss a chance at the Big Dance. They just need to focus up and give their maximum effort these next couple of games.
