Nebraska Basketball: 3 predictions for Huskers against Maryland
After finishing up non-conference play, Nebraska basketball is back on the court tonight at Maryland in a critical Big Ten game for the Huskers.
When the calendar turns to January, it feels like things get serious when it comes to college hoops and tonight, things will get very serious for the Nebraska basketball team as it opens the final 18 games of the Big Ten schedule tonight with a road game against Maryland.
Nebraska basketball comes into the game with an 11-2 record and a 1-1 mark in the Big Ten. Maryland is similar, going 10-3 overall up to this point and also going 1-1 in the Big Ten. However, when you look at Maryland’s schedule, you will see a lack of quality wins.
That’s because, for all intents and purposes, the Terps don’t have one. That’s part of the reason why tonight’s game is so important for them. Maryland lost close games to Virginia, Seton Hall and Purdue, but its best win is probably over Penn State.
Nebraska, on the other hand, has quite an impressive overall resume. While Maryland is 31st according to Kenpom, the Huskers rank 14th. Nebraska also owns wins over Clemson, Seton Hall, Oklahoma State and Creighton.
Nebraska also won two of those games away from home, including a road win at Clemson which bodes well for tonight. The Huskers will invade the Xfinity Center at the start of what should be a grueling finish in a conference that is filled with quality opponents.
A winning conference record would almost surely get Nebraska in the tournament and 10-8 record the rest of the way would do it. With that in mind, here are three predictions for the Huskers and the Terps.
