Nebraska Football: 3 things on the Huskers Christmas wish list
Santa could certainly restore the Blackshirts
Maybe the most shocking thing about the downfall of Nebraska football, especially since the Bill Callahan era has been the poor play of the once proud Blackshirt defense.
Certainly, Pelini had some strong units but never any good enough to deliver a championship. And also, for a defensive-minded coach, teams like Ohio State and Wisconsin sure took his teams to task.
A good defense is probably the Huskers most immediate need/wish. I need socks and the Huskers need an improved pass rush, better play in the secondary and some dominant run defenders. They also need to stop giving up big plays pass.
While Santa might not be able to help much in this area, Frost and his staff have been doing what they can to add to the talent level and overall, they have been successful in recruiting some upgrades.
Who knows it will be enough to fix the defense next season — it probably won’t be, however, with some magic from Santa, it’s possible a few players will develop a little quicker than expected. You never know what could happen and after all, that is why it’s called a Christmas wish list.
