Nebraska Football got a great player by way of a transfer.

The talent continues to roll in for Nebraska football, as the program landed another player on Friday. This time, former Oklahoma State offensive lineman Darrion Daniels announced that he would play his final season for the Cornhuskers according to multiple media reports.

Nebraska fans should be excited about his transfer. He is a former four-star player, and he certainly has the skills to be an impact player on the defensive line. Measuring in at 6-foot-3, 320 pounds, Daniels spent the last four seasons at Oklahoma State. In 2018, he only played four games due to injury. His best season came in 2017. That year, he started in 10 games and had 26 tackles, a half sack, two pass breakups and five tackles for a loss. In addition, he had several quarterback hurries.

This is a great development on the part of Nebraska, as they look to reload their defensive line. This is also somewhat of a family affair as Daniels will be able to play with his brother Damian now. This will give the program a veteran presence on the line, and also give them a weapon that knows how to play physically and get after the quarterback. Daniels is a player that can turn heads, and Nebraska needs someone who can make big plays in key moments on defense.

As a recruit, Daniel was the No. 269 prospect in the country. He certainly has a tremendous pedigree and with the departures of Freedom Akinmoladun and Mick Stoltenberg, the program certainly needs someone who has that. The subtraction of those two no doubt leaves big holes to fill in 2019. This is what is going to make signing day in February even more crucial.

The momentum continues to build for head coach Scott Frost and the program. It is interesting to see how many commitments Nebraska has landed from guys either from the junior-college ranks or graduate transfers. The program is adding players from all sorts of avenues, and not necessarily the traditional ones. That is not a bad thing by any means, as sometimes that is way programs can find the “diamonds in the rough.”

The commitment of Daniels should excite Nebraska and their fans. He is a player who can make an impact, and come in and make said impact right away. It will be interesting to see how the program fills up other spots on their roster as they begin preparing for the second half of the offseason.
