Nebraska Basketball: 3 takeaways from the Huskers win over Creighton
Huskers have done enough to make the tournament in non-conference play
Beating Creighton is always going to be a big deal for Nebraska basketball no matter what else is at stake. There is a clear rivalry between the two teams and when you lose as much as the Huskers have, it becomes a little personal.
But on top of getting a win that was extremely satisfying for Nebraska basketball and its fans, the Huskers also got a win that could be important down the road for its NCAA tournament hopes.
Last season, the Huskers went 13-5 in the Big Ten during the regular season but still missed the tournament in large part because their non-conference resume was not good enough. But this season, Nebraska has beaten Clemson on the road, Seton Hall at home and now Creighton at home.
That is three Power-5 wins and two of them, Clemson and Creighton are against top-40 teams. So while the Huskers have a lot of work to do in the Big Ten, they have at least done what they needed to during the non-conference portion of the schedule.
