Nebraska Basketball: 3 takeaways from the Huskers win over Creighton
Miles gets first win in 15 attempts against Greg McDermott
As big as this win was for the entire Nebraska basketball program, it was especially big for Tim Miles, who was 0-14 against McDermott going into last night and 0-7 against the Bluejays as head coach.
Miles has done a good job at Nebraska, even though he has his fair share of critics. But Nebraska went into the Big Ten and over the years have gotten much more competitive on the basketball court. Most recently, Nebraska was projected as a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament according to Andy Katz, so things are all seemingly headed in the right direction.
A loss to Creighton could have changed that narrative completely. It was also one of the Huskers last chances to add an impressive non-conference win on the resume. Nebraska does get to play Oklahoma State before returning to Big Ten play, but now there is less urgency heading into that road game.
The bottom line is that this was a big win for Miles, mostly because it helped support the idea that the program is heading in the right direction.
