Nebraska basketball fell apart in the second half and lost to Minnesota Wednesday night on the road. Here are three takeaways.

The Nebraska basketball team was hoping to notch a second straight road win against Minnesota Wednesday night and for much of the night, it looked like the Huskers would be successful.

Just a few minutes into the second half, Nebraska basketball led by 13 points and with around eight minutes left go, the Huskers were still up by 10.

However, after that two things happened: The Golden Gophers got red hot and the Huskers went ice cold. Minnesota finished the game on a 27-10 run. The Huskers offense completely fell apart and in all honesty, so did the defense, although the technical foul on Isaac Copeland didn’t help.

Nebraska hung around was still down just three points with under a minute left. Minnesota had the ball with 40-some seconds on the shot clock. Instead of fouling, Tim Miles elected to play it out.

The Huskers got the stop they needed, however, they weren’t able to corral the rebound. Minnesota captured the board, sank some free throws and that was all she wrote.

The loss drops Nebraska to 7-2 overall and 1-1 in the Big Ten Conference. Minnesota is a solid team and since it was a road game, it’s not going to be viewed as a bad loss, but it stings because the Huskers had it and let it slip away.

Nebraska had four guys in double figures as Copeland scored 17, Isaiah Roby had 15, Glynn Watson had 14 and James Palmer had 11. Amir Coffee of Minnesota scored 32 points, while Jordan Murphy added 18 and 13 rebounds.

It was a tough loss for the Huskers, but here is a look at what went wrong with three takeaways.
