Nebraska football fans are some of the greatest fans in the world and because of that alone, Cornhusker fans deserved a higher ranking in the Fandom 250.

FanSided released its annual fan rankings titled the Fandom 250 Wednesday and once again, the fans of Nebraska football and of the Cornhuskers, in general, were underrated.

The list, which compares and ranks fans across the spectrum of sports, entertainment, and personalities, put Nebraska fans at No. 103 overall. That was an improvement over last year when the Big Red followers were ranked outside the top 200, however, it was still way too low.

Yet, when the focus shifts to just college teams, Nebraska are ranked 16th, which is still higher than last year, but not high enough.

If you want to see an example of the dedication of just Nebraska football fans, look at the home sellout streak. Nothing like that exists in college football and it’s something that goes back to the 1960s. Even during the struggles of the past two seasons or during the Bill Callahan era when things didn’t go so well, Nebraska fans stayed loyal to their team and filled out Memorial Stadium.

Beyond that, if you have ever lived in the state of Nebraska, you know how much the Cornhuskers mean. There are no pro teams and in terms of football, there are no other major teams. The Huskers also have a long history of on-field success, with five national championships, although the last one was over 20 years ago.

Yet, with Scott Frost back in the fold as the head coach, Nebraska is already on the rise. And beyond just the football program, Husker fans are quite passionate about volleyball, which has won more than its fair share of championships over the years and that doesn’t even get into basketball, baseball or wrestling, three other sports where Nebraska has done well as of late.

The Men’s basketball team is off to a roaring start and looks poised to make a run at the NCAA tournament and next year when this list comes out, it will be talking about the revival of Nebraska football.

Hopefully, by then, Husker fans will get a higher ranking in the Fandom 250, because when it comes to fans of football and everything else, there really is no place like Nebraska.
