Martinez is becoming a superstar

Adrian Martinez, despite winning only four games, still put together a really impressive freshman season. He threw for over 2,600 yards and 18 touchdowns, while also running for 629 yards and eight touchdowns.

Martinez still has a lot to prove. He still hasn’t won a game on the road and he hasn’t even beaten a team ranked in the top 25. However, the win over Michigan State was significant. So was the fact that the offense got 400 yards or more in eight of the last nine games.

Martinez won’t have Stanley Morgan Jr. next season or Devine Ozigbo to hand the ball to, yet he will still be surrounded by talented players and good quarterbacks make those around them better.

With a full season in the system and the chance to develop his own game, Martinez should easily be the best quarterback in the West next season and it’s possible, he might be the best in the Big Ten.
