Nebraska Football: Jamin Graham offers a pass rusher with upside
Nebraska football continues to hit the recruiting trail hard and on Sunday, the Huskers landed Jamin Graham, a 6-foot-6 pass rusher with upside.
The Nebraska football team has been busy since the season ended and while many teams were figuring out what bowl game they would play in Sunday, the Huskers were getting a commitment from a 3-star pass rusher.
Jamin Graham is maybe a name you didn’t know until recently, however, according to the prospect from Alabama, the Huskers have been recruiting him hard, which is obviously true after a visit by head coach Scott Frost to Graham’s home last week.
That trip to see Graham prompted an official visit which took place over the weekend and once that was in the books and once Graham got a feel for the program, he committed.
The addition of Graham is certainly a welcome sight for Nebraska football. The Huskers have been trying to add to their pass rush and the 6-foot-6, 240-pound defensive end should help meet that need.
Graham was just a 3-star prospect out of the state of Alabama, however, he was also offered by Minnesota, Southern Miss and Louisville. And in addition to being a defensive end, he played wide receiver and also played high school basketball. Watch some highlights of him here.
Graham is the 22nd player to commit to the Huskers 2019 recruiting class, which according to the Omaha World-Herald, can fit up to 30 players. Graham is going to be one of the guys and he said he plans to sign when the early signing period opens Dec. 19. The defensive end is ranked 717 nationally but ranks 47th at his position. He’s also the 26th-best player in his state.
Obviously, Graham isn’t a big name but that doesn’t mean he won’t have a big impact. At the very least, he has some pass-rush skills worth developing and at outside linebacker or defensive end, he’s a guy that could make an impact down the road.
One thing coaches say is that you can’t coach size and you can’t coach speed. Well, Graham has both of those things and after he finished with 13.5 sacks, 87 tackles, 37 tackles for loss and 18 quarterback hurries last season, he seems to have something worth developing.
That seems to be why Nebraska football went after him so hard and that’s also why Husker fans should be happy that the Big Red reeled him in.
