Nebraska Basketball: 3 things we learned from Huskers win over Clemson
Nebraska basketball notched a huge road win over Clemson Monday night and in the process, here are three things we learned about the Huskers.
The Big Ten-ACC Challenge is always a good time to make a statement and Monday night, in Littlejohn Coliseum, the Nebraska basketball team made a pretty strong statement about its NCAA tournament chances this season with a 68-66 win over Clemson.
Last season, despite winning 13 games in the Big Ten conference, Nebraska basketball was left out of the big dance. A lack of quality wins was a big reason why and Monday night, the Huskers added what should prove to be a very good win. Not only did they beat a team that was recently ranked, but Clemson is still No. 30 in the Kenpom rankings.
That’s a solid win, especially on the road. As far as how the Huskers did it, well they did do it with defense, although Clemson shot a pretty high percentage, Nebraska held the Tigers to just 66 points. In fact, it was only the second time a team has scored 60 against the Huskers this season, but it was still a solid effort.
Clemson’s best players got points but they had to work for it. Shelton Mitchell was 4-of-10 from the field, while the Tigers leading scoring Marcquise Reed scored 16 points, yet was 6-of-14 and 1-of-4 from the 3-point line.
The reality is that even though neither team shot well from deep, Nebraska made three more triples than Clemson and that helped make the difference in an otherwise even matchup.
Regardless of how the Huskers did it, the win was huge and here is a look at three things we learned from it.
