Nebraska is feeling like Nebraska again

There is still a long way for Nebraska football to go, yet, there is no doubt that the Huskers are headed in the right direction.

I am not saying Nebraska is going to start winning championships anytime soon, however, I could see the Huskers realistically competing for the Big Ten West title in the next year or two. Martinez is a star, Maurice Washington looks like he will be really good and JD Spielman will be back next season, giving the Huskers an explosive trio on offense.

There is work to do on defense, but Frost is off to a really solid start recruiting. At the very least, the attitude has changed. Nebraska didn’t back down from Northwestern, Wisconsin, Ohio State and Michigan State. All those games were close beside Wisconsin and it still wasn’t the kind of beatdown Nebraska suffered under Mike Riley and at times, Bo Pelini.

Nebraska probably will never be as successful as it was under Tom Osborne when it won conference championships on the regular and won three national championships. However, there is no reason, as I said, the Huskers can’t have the same kind of success that Iowa, Wisconsin and Michigan State has had.

It’s possible and with a coach like Frost, the chance of it happening isn’t just a pipe dream, it’s a potential reality for the future.
