Reed’s forced fumble was class Blackshirt

When I look back at this season, the forced fumble by Antonio Reed last week against Michigan State might be the most significant play of the season for Nebraska football.

Trailing 6-3 in a game that was a struggle for both offenses, Michigan State had the ball in its own territory. Reed, who already had an interception and a tackle for loss in the game, sacked and stripped Rocky Lombardi, giving the Huskers the ball in scoring position.

Not only did it lead to a field goal that tied the game, but it changed the momentum. When Reed forced that fumble and the Huskers pounced on the ball, it was the first time that it felt like Nebraska might win the game.

Nebraska may have been able to win the game without Reed’s forced fumble, but it certainly increased NU’s chances greatly. He was given his Blackshirt this week following the best game of his career and I know personally, I won’t forget that forced fumble or the 9-6 win over Michigan State for a long time.
