Nebraska Football: 3 reasons the Huskers can beat Iowa
Nebraska probably has the edge in motivation
Rivalry games are a lot like bowl games. The team that is more motivated ends up winning a lot, especially is most everything else is relatively equal. And even though Iowa will certainly be motivated for this game, the edge in that department probably has to go to Nebraska.

The season has been disappointing for both teams. The Hawkeyes could have easily won the Big Ten West had it not blown home games to Northwestern and Wisconsin late. Instead, Iowa is 7-4 and hoping to win to make a New Year’s Day bowl. Iowa can also win this game for the fourth straight year.
Iowa definitely wants to keep its supremacy in the rivalry, but for Nebraska football, this game is basically the entire season. If the Huskers knock off the Hawkeyes, the season would sort of feel like a success, especially the second half. It’s essentially Nebraska’s bowl game.
19 seniors will be playing their final game and you know a lot of the team haven’t been around for a win over Iowa, including Ozigbo, so the Huskers will be plenty driven.
Beating Iowa is going to be difficult and will certainly take a strong effort from the Huskers. In fact, it will take their best game of the season. But for the reasons outlined, Nebraska has a good chance to win.
It feels like the Huskers will have a great opportunity to win the game, the only question is whether or not this group can finally finish on the road?
