Huskers stymied Seton Hall

As I said, Nebraska basketball hadn’t really performed well against teams like Seton Hall in the past. The Pirates are an athletic team with toughness and that model had given the Huskers some problems before.

This time though, Nebraska was the tougher team. The Huskers outrebounded Seton Hall 44-38 and got to the free throw line 27 times compared to 20 for the Pirates. Nebraska also took better care of the ball, turning it over just eight times, while forcing Seton Hall into 14.

More than that though, Nebraska gave the Pirates trouble with their length. Seton Hall was 2-of-15 from 3-point range and shot just 36 percent for the game. The Huskers came in giving up just 36 points a night, which was the best in the nation and Wednesday, they showed why.

Holding a team like Seton Hall to 57 points is impressive and it also shows that this Nebraska team has legitimate aspirations, not only in the Big Ten but in the NCAA tournament. Defense wins championships after all and so far, the Huskers look pretty sound on that end of the floor.
