Nebraska basketball has been surrounded by a lot of hype and Wednesday night, the Huskers showed why against Seton Hall. Here are three takeaways.

The hype machine has been running full time for the Nebraska basketball team at the start of the season and after a blowout win over Seton Hall Wednesday, it’s easy to see why.

Of course, there was a reason to be anxious too. Nebraska basketball fans were and are still worried that their team will underachieve — that it won’t be as good as the experts claim to be. Well, if you watched the Huskers destroy Seton Hall in the Vault last night, those fears should be quieted, at least a little bit.

For Nebraska, it was a huge game. It was the kind of game the Huskers haven’t won enough in recent years. As you can remember, the Gavitt Games haven’t been kind to NU. Losses to Villanova and St. Johns were ugly and the Huskers couldn’t afford another poor performance.

This was a team that won 22 games a year ago and was left out of the big dance because it didn’t have enough quality wins. So beating Seton Hall, a top-40 team according to Kenpom was huge. And the way Nebraska did it made it even more so.

The Huskers started off sluggish on the offensive end, however in the second half, they exploded. James Palmer finished with 29 points and Seton Hall couldn’t even score 60. It was a great all-around effort and for a look at what it means, here are three takeaways.
