Nebraska Basketball: 3 predictions for the Huskers against Seton Hall
Nebraska basketball has been really impressive in its two wins this season and Wednesday night, it gets a shot at Seton Hall. Here are three predictions.
The Nebraska basketball team couldn’t have started the season much better after blowout wins over Mississippi Valley State and Southeastern Louisiana.
Of course, neither of those teams are big names in college basketball, however, Nebraska scored more than 100 points in one of the wins and held both teams to an average of 36 points per game.
Nebraska basketball actually leads the country in scoring defense with that stat of 36 PPG allowed and is also scoring 96 points a game, thanks in part to a greater focus on shooting 3-pointers. Last season, the Huskers were shooting 20.3 triples a game and so far this year, that has been raised to 31 3-pointers a game.
In addition to a stout defense and a team that will shoot a lot of triples, head coach Tim Miles has an experienced group that is led by James Palmer, Glynn Watson Jr., Isaac Copeland, Isaiah Roby, Thomas Allen, Nana Akenten and Brady Heiman. All seven of those guys are scoring at least eight points per game.
On the other side, Seton Hall is without its top two scorers from a season ago. However, the Pirates have Myles Powell, who averaged 15 PPG last season and this year, is averaging 30 points through two games. Michael Nzei is also someone to watch. The 6-foot-7 forward averages 11 points and seven boards.
As basketball fans, you should be excited. Both the Huskers and Seton Hall are in the top 40 of the Kenpom rankings. Seton Hall was a tournament team, while Nebraska just missed. It’s a great early-season matchup between the Big Ten and Big East. It tips tonight at 5:30 CST (On BTN) and here are three predictions.
