Nebraska football knocked off Illinois on Saturday 54-35. Here is a final breakdown of the Huskers wins and grades for all three units and coaches.

There was a lot to like as a Nebraska football fan as the Huskers ran away from Illinois at Memorial Stadium last Saturday.

The Huskers gave up a lot of points and a lot of yards, but they scored a lot on their own too. Nebraska football ran the ball right at the Fighting Illini and did quite a bit of throwing too with the ever-improving Adrian Martinez.

There is no question, Martinez continues to be the biggest star on this team. His freshman season, outside of being hurt early on, has been extremely impressive. I know I am not the only glad that he’s going to be around a few more years.

But outside of Martinez, Scott Frost has this team playing really well and during the stretch run of the season, that’s what you want to see. This team isn’t making a bowl game, even though some are still holding out hope for a 5-7 berth like in 2015 — sorry folks, it’s not happening.

However, this team still can build some really great momentum heading into next season. The Huskers have won three of four games right now, how would winning five of six sound, especially if one of those wins was over Iowa? Pretty great right?

Nebraska football definitely seems capable after what it did to Illinois. Yet, before we look ahead, let’s take one final look back at Illinois and hand out our weekly grades.
