The Nebraska football team has played in a lot of early games this season and the Huskers will host Michigan State at 11 a.m. central again next Saturday.
Some Nebraska football fans are getting a little sick of the early-morning games, however, the Big Ten announced Sunday morning that the Huskers will have another this week against Michigan State.
Strangely enough, this will be the third straight game for Nebraska football that will take place in the 11 a.m. time slot. The Huskers traveled to Ohio State for the early game two weeks ago and also played host to Illinois at the same time.
In the end, the time of the game doesn’t matter that much. We know Nebraska football fans will sell out Lincoln Memorial Stadium no matter time kickoff is scheduled for, but still, some Huskers fans wouldn’t mind a few more hours of sleep on gameday morning would they?
The game will also be televised on Fox this next week instead of the Big Ten Network. While that shouldn’t really matter, hardcore Nebraska fans will know that all three Husker wins were televised by the Big Ten Network. Just saying. The Huskers also lost on the road to Michigan and Ohio State. Both games were televised by Fox.
Those tidbits are interesting but the game next Saturday will have more to do with how Nebraska football plays than the channel its broadcast on. The Huskers will need to be ready though, because fresh off a loss, 6-4 Michigan State will be hungry. The Spartans also probably want to play in a decent bowl game and if they lose to Nebraska, a trip to Florida might be out of the picture.
This meeting should also be fun, considering the 39-38 upset win Nebraska football pulled off back in 2015. Michigan State was a top-10 team and the Huskers, in Mike Riley’s first season, pulled off the dramatic upset. A ball call from the refs helped but still.
Overall, the Huskers are 8-2 all-time against Michigan State, with a 3-2 record in Big Ten play. While the Spartans are playing for bowl position, Nebraska will be playing for pride.
It will be the final home game of the season and a chance for this senior class to go out with a good win against a highly-respected program. Kickoff, as we learned, will be at 11 a.m.
