Obzigo goes off again

You knew coming in that both teams were going to be able to run the ball Saturday at Memorial Stadium, yet it was unclear which would run the ball better. Well, when it was all said and done, Ozigbo was the most productive back in the stadium.

Reggie Corbin, Illinois star back, carried the ball just nine times for 59 yards. Ozigbo, on the other hand, cradled the rock 11 times and finished with 162 yards and three touchdowns. He scored a 66-yard touchdown in the second quarter and added a 60-yard touchdown which proved to be the exclamation point in the fourth.

Ozigbo is now creeping up on 1,000 yards and has four games with 150 yards or more on the ground. It’s startling to see the difference between now and how he started the season. In his first three games, he ran the ball 29 times for 90 yards and one touchdown. That’s 3.1 yards per attempt.

Since then, he is averaging 14 carries for 123 yards per game. He is averaging 8.8 yards per rush and has scored a total of nine touchdowns. There is no question, Frost reached this kid and the way he is finishing his Nebraska career is impressive.
