Nebraska will have another 500-yard day

As good as Adrian Martinez and the Huskers were offensively a week ago against Ohio State, on the road, expect an even better effort at home taking on Illinois.

In his young Nebraska football career, Martinez has started four games at home and in those four games, the Huskers have averaged 568 yards. Martinez is also averaging 300 yards of total offense this season, which ranks third in the Big Ten.

Add that to weapons like Devine Ozigbo and Maurice Washington in the backfield, as well as Stanley Morgan Jr.and JD Spielman at receiver and Illinois is going to have some issues.

Illinois is last in the Big Ten in rushing yards allowed and second-to-last in the Big Ten in passing yards allowed. So it’s safe to say that Martinez and the Huskers are in for a big day. I’d be surprised if the final output was anything fewer than 40-some points and more than 500 total yards. Expect a lot of plays, a lot of tempo, a lot of points and lots of yards.
