Nebraska Football: 3 key takeaways from Huskers loss to Ohio State
Nebraska football fell to Ohio State Saturday by the score of 36-31 and here are three key takeaways for the Huskers.
Over the last few weeks, you could see Nebraska football getting better and better. Rock bottom was the 56-10 shellacking at the hands of Michigan — since then, Nebraska has been a different team.
There have still been some lopsided losses, most notably to Purdue and Wisconsin. But beyond that, there was a close loss at Northwestern, wins over Minnesota and Bethune-Cookman and Saturday, a five-point loss at Ohio State.
Yes, the Huskers lost the game, no one is arguing that. But it was still the best Nebraska football had played against Ohio State since 2011. It was certainly better than 62-3 and 56-14. In short, it was a step in the right direction.
Say what you want about the record, Nebraska is improving. The quarterback is young and talented. Eventually, the kid is going to be a star and that’s something every Huskers fan can be excited about.
Certainly, the loss to Ohio State hurts, especially because it was there for the taking. The Huskers just couldn’t quite close the deal. But in the bigger picture, what did we learn Saturday and what does it mean going forward?
There are still three games left and we now know that Nebraska won’t go bowling. The bottom line is that the rest of this season is about 2019 and beyond and with that in mind, here are three takeaways from the loss to Ohio State.
