Nebraska Football: 3 reasons Huskers can hang with Ohio State
Ohio State struggled with Minnesota, why not Nebraska?
Ohio State might end up winning the Big Ten Championship this season, but as of right now, the Buckeyes are not the team they have been over the past few years.
Yes, Ohio State is really good. Haskins is an elite thrower of the football and Urban Meyer is still an elite coach. Yet, in a lot of ways, this team leaves a lot to be desired. Defensively, Ohio State isn’t dominant, not after losing Nick Bosa and the ground game also isn’t what we are used to seeing.
Nebraska Cornhuskers Football
Normally, Ohio State pounds the rock and just beats you to death with speed, athleticism, and physicality. The Buckeyes are still capable of that, but this year’s version is just not as good as in year’s past. A few weeks ago, Ohio State couldn’t pull away from pesky Minnesota until the fourth quarter, when the Buckeyes won 30-14.
In their last outing, the Buckeyes were drilled by Purdue 49-20. That means against Purdue and Minnesota, Ohio State was outscored by 13 points. That’s pretty mind-blowing. Maybe Ohio State will wake up after such a bad loss and maybe the Buckeyes will take out their frustrations on Nebraska.
But to be honest, this Ohio State team doesn’t look like a juggernaut and if Nebraska football can play well offensively, get a few breaks and force at least a couple punts, it might find itself in the game, with a chance to win in the fourth quarter.
I know that doesn’t seem like much, but considering how the Buckeyes have owned Nebraska in recent years, it would be least be a step in the right direction.
