Nebraska might have lost in Camp Randall but there were enough signs of life that Husker fans are actually excited for the first time in weeks.

It’s not very often Nebraska fans are happy to lose 41-24. That’s how bad the season has gone so far.

Cornhuskers fans are actually pretty positive despite the fact the team is now 0-5 and has set a new school record for consecutive losses. The positivity isn’t about setting the bar low.

The positivity stems from Nebraska finally showing they belong on the same field as the big wigs in the Big Ten. If the Cornhuskers had played just a little better, if they had executed on just a few more plays, the score would have been closer. It’s possible Nebraska would have even won.

For now, that’s going to have to be enough. The positivity is here for now, but another loss next week might kill it again. That’s how close the team was to winning but it was still another loss.

Read about that and other kernels in this morning’s Go Big Read.

ESPN talked quite a bit about UCLA and the Huskers on Saturday morning. While doing that it posted a pretty dumb meme that was met with the required amount of annoyance by Cornhuskers’ fans.
