Nebraska football finds itself as a three-touchdown underdog to Wisconsin
The Nebraska football team’s season could go from bad to worse.
Remember when we thought Nebraska football had hit rock bottom with a bad loss to Michigan? The Huskers were only 18-point underdogs going into that game.
Against Wisconsin, heading into Madison, the Cornhuskers have opened as 21-point underdogs. That’s the bad news. The worse news is there’s no indication taking the Badgers is a remotely bad investment.
The Huskers are coming off a 14-point loss to a Purdue team that was 1-3 coming into the weekend. They were supposed to be a game Nebraska could win.

Is there a game Nebraska can win? It doesn’t seem likely Wisconsin fits that bill.
Here’s a few numbers to keep in mind. Offensively, the Huskers are averaging just 21.3 points per game. Wisconsin is averaging 32.
Defensively, the Huskers are allowing a Big Ten-worst 38.8 points per game. The Badgers are allowing just 14.5.
The Huskers allow 100 more yards per game, though this is where there may be a bit of good news. Wisconsin allows just 30 yards less per game on the ground.
If the Huskers are going to have any shot at winning this game, they are going to need to rely on the run far more than they did against Purdue.
If they can do that, and keep the ball better than they did a week ago, it’s possible they could find themselves inside of three touchdowns. That’s still a rather big if the way the Nebraska football team has played so far this season.
