On Monday morning, the Nebraska football coaching staff released a depth chart full of changes. It appears actions are now matching frustrated words.

Nebraska football head coach Scott Frost made it clear after the Purdue game that he wasn’t happy with several members of his team. On Monday morning, he showed just how frustrated he was.

For the first time this season, the Huskers showed a number of different depth chart changes that weren’t about injuries. Those changes are on both sides of the ball.

One of the biggest, and most expected changes is at running back. Devine Ozigbo is no longer sharing the starting spot. He sits alone, with JUCO transfer Greg Bell now an “or” as the backup with Maurice Washington. Miles Jones, who had managed to get an “or” along with Washington on last week’s chart is not there at all this week.

At center, Tanner Farmer takes over as the starting center pushing Cole Conrad into the backup slot. Farmer was listed as the starting right guard a week ago. At right guard, Boe Wilson slides from backup to starter and Trent Hixson is now the backup there.

At the second wide receiver position, Kade Warner has officially taken a starting spot away from JUCO transfer Mike Williams. Against Purdue, Warner had two catches for 16 yards. Williams continued to be a ghost, barely getting into the action and having no balls thrown his way.

On defense, Carlos Davis is the starting nose guard and Mick Stoltenberg is no where to be found. That’s not good news after spending last game on crutches.

One move that might surprise some is Dedrick Young no longer sharing the “or” on the depth chart with Colin Miller. That’s not a huge move, but Young has been much maligned this season for wrong reads on defense. It’s surprising he stands alone as the starter this week.

The biggest change on defense is at cornerback. Lamar Jackson has been moved to second string, behind Eric Lee Jr. This is noteworthy because Jackson committed a costly penalty against Purdue that saw him get chewed out by Frost and then benched for most of the game. It would seem the coaches saw more poor performances than just that play to warrant benching him for the Wisconsin game.

Now that the Nebraska football coaches have made it clear they aren’t afraid to juggle the lineup, it will be interesting to see what happens moving forward in the season.
