Nebraska basketball gets 2019 point guard in Mika Adams-Woods
The Nebraska basketball team is having a much better Saturday than the Nebraska football team. Mika Adams Woods announced his commitment to the Huskers.
While the Nebraska football team is struggling through a 0-3 start to the season, the Nebraska basketball season has their whole season in front of them.
Before they even tip off the 2018 season, the Huskers are getting a little better for the future. 2019 point guard Mika Adams-Woods had surfaced as the top target at that position for Tim Miles over the last few weeks. On Saturday evening he pulled the trigger and committed.
Adams-Woods made the announcement as everyone does these days, on Twitter saying, “Thank you to all the coaches that have recruited me throughout this process, family, and teammates who stuck by my side through the ups and downs. I am happy to announce that I have committed to the University of Nebraska.”
The guard, rated as the 34th best combo guard in the country, hails from Syracuse, New York. He’s considered by 247Sports to be the 6th best player in the state of New York for this class.
While this isn’t a player that the Nebrasaketball team snatched from some really big schools, he had plenty of interest from schools that have been contenders and attendees of the NCAA tournament in the last few years.
A little over a month ago he narrowed down his list to eight teams. In addition to Nebraska, he named Nevada, UMass, George Mason, Siena, UNC-Greensboro, Buffalo, and East Carolina. The interesting thing about that list is other than the Huskers and Nevada, it’s got a decidedly East Coast flavor.
That makes it a little more interesting that they were able to pull in this point guard. Just weeks until the Nebraska basketball season begins and they’re already getting very good news.
