Nebraska football: 3 things we learned at Monday’s press conference
The big headline that everyone took away from Nebraska football’s post-practice press conference on Monday is that Adrian Martinez practiced. While that is great news, there was a bit of a caveat mixed in with the news.
Several of the players that got up to speak made mention of Martinez being on the field on Monday. Frost also talked about the starting quarterback practicing, though interestingly enough made very few comments about how he looked.
It’s a safe bet that if Martinez was 100 percent healthy and ready to go, that’s the message we’d be hearing. There wouldn’t be a need to mislead Michigan because the Wolverines will be practicing as though they are going to face Martinez anyway.
If there’s one thing we learned Saturday, it’s that the Huskers are going to try and run the offense no matter who is on the field. In quite a few regards, that makes it easier to prepare for the starter and be ready for the backup.
Frost said that despite Martinez being under center for the Nebraska football team, the decision on whether or not he is going to start will likely come down to Saturday. That actually tells us two things. Martinez practiced for the Nebraska football team but didn’t look perfect. He wasn’t as close to ready to play as Frost made it look last week.
