If the entire Nebraska football team not being on the same page was a bit shocking, so was one comment that is being treated as a bit of a throwaway by others.

During his press conference, Frost commented that a few of his offensive linemen were getting tired “on the long drives.” He added that he wanted to see the backups step up more.

I’m all for the backups stepping up more, but it’s a bit concerning to me that the offensive linemen would be getting tired on the “long drives” considering how few of those the Huskers had.

I suppose it depends on what Frost is considering a long drive, but Nebraska had just three drives that went more than seven plays. Only one drive took more than four minutes off the clock.

We knew that the Huskers running with pace could bring some wear and tear to the team but it appears that conditioning is still a bit of an issue. On the flipside, you can condition all you want and it’s still going to be a different kind of tired when it’s during a game.

The offensive linemen getting worn out is going to be an issue to watch moving forward. For what it’s worth, the Huskers best drive of the entire game was an 11-play drive that moved the ball 75 yards in 3:50. That was very late in the fourth quarter.

That might be an indication that the conditioning has allowed the Nebraska football team to find another gear, or it could be that the fatigue was a factor elsewhere in the game.
