The Nebraska football team knew they were going to have their hands full when they took on the Troy Trojans. Despite knowing that, it’s likely that most Cornhusker fans expected their team to emerge victorious.
The loss to the defending Sun Belt champion was just one of the surprises to happen in the Big Ten in week 3. There were a few teams that looked better than people thought.
There were quite a few more that looked worse than people expected. Perhaps this is the league getting ready to jump into the Big Ten schedule wholeheartedly.
Perhaps the B1G just isn’t as good as we had hoped. The first thing we learned on Saturday was that the Huskers absolutely have some climbing to do if they want to get out of the hole Mike Riley and Bo Pelini have put them in.
It’s more than just not winning enough games. The Cornhuskers seem a bit out of sorts.
The team is kind of mistake-prone these days. They are also quite thin at certain positions. We’d been worrying about what might happen if Adrian Martinez went down.
What we saw on Saturday was the realization of that fear. Andrew Bunch isn’t a bad quarterback. He’s also not a particularly good one when you’re talking about FBS competition.
While the Nebraska football struggles are worse than we thought, they are hardly the only thing we learned on Saturday. Let us know what you think, and see if we forgot something.
