Former Nebraska football star Randy Gregory might be looking at the end of his playing days if a new report about a relapse can be believed.

Former Nebraska football defensive end Randy Gregory’s career is officially in jeopardy. This is not a repeat from the last three years.

A new report from Adam Schefter started circulating on Sunday morning stating Gregory has suffered yet another drug abuse relapse. The report also states the NFL could be deciding on punishment in the next day or two.

It’s hard to think the punishment is going to be anything other than yet another “indefinite” suspension. It’s equally difficult to believe that if he is suspended again, it wouldn’t be the last chance for the former Nebraska football sack master.

Randy Gregory had managed to get reinstated from a previous “indefinite suspension” this preseason. By all accounts, he had been doing exactly what he needed to do in order to get back on the field.

Those accounts missed the part where Gregory reportedly failed another drug test. Adding insult to injury is that the defensive lineman is getting ready to play in his first regular season game in almost 12 months today.

The former Husker isn’t getting the starting nod but did expect to see some playing time for the Cowboys today. Dallas has stood behind Gregory for the most part while he has struggled with drug abuse issues over the last few years.

You’ve gotta wonder if the team will continue to support the defender should he get another suspension. It certainly seems like this could be the last straw in a number of different ways.

For his part, Randy Gregory isn’t talking about the report ahead of his game against the Carolina Panthers. Teammate Antwaun Woods did issue a tweet talking about the team being on lock and the former Nebraska football star reiterated he was locked in for the contest.
