The rivalry between the Nebraska football team and Colorado is alive and well but one Buff was impressed by Adrian Martinez‘s performance.

For at least one day, the Nebraska football vs Colorado Buffaloes rivalry seemed like it had never ended. The Game was one heck of a barn burner.

The two teams spent the game trading knockout punches and for the longest time it looked like the Cornhuskers were going to be able to hang on. If Nebraska had won, it would have been in large part thanks to the play of true freshman quarterback Adrian Martinez.

While Husker fans enjoyed the performance that Martinez put up, they were far from the only people that appreciated what they were watching. At least one Colorado player was impressed by the man he spent most of the day chasing.

Brian Christopherson reports that CU linebacker Nate Landman went out of his way to comment about Martinez after the game. “He’s a tough kid. I mean, he took some shots today. And I’m sorry to hear about his knee. I hope he gets well … He’s going to be great for them in the future.”

If you somehow haven’t heard, the “get well” part of that sentiment is because Martinez had to leave the game in the fourth quarter with a leg injury. So far, head coach Scott Frost hasn’t said just what the issue is, other than to say the news is “semi-encouraging.”

The qualifier of “semi” isn’t one that has Husker fans all that excited. On the flip side, it’s clear that if Adrian Martinez can return quickly, it’s going to be exciting for Nebraska football fans. The comments by Landman make it clear he’s already grabbed the attention of the Huskers opponents. Now we’re just stuck playing the waiting game and hoping for word.
