One of the prized running back commits for the Nebraska football team in the 2019 class, Ronald Thompkins II had to leave his team’s game early on Saturday due to an injury.
Just days after the Nebraska football team suffered a decommit of a running back from their 2019 class, Husker Nation is holding its collective breath. One of other two running back commits in the class, Ronald Thompkins left his season-opening game for Grayson with an apparent knee injury.
The game was supposed to be a way for Thompkins and his teammates to show what they can do on a national stage. Grayson played Tucker on ESPN2 on Saturday night.
Thompkins team did show they could take an opponent to the woodshed. Grayson won the game 48-7.
#Huskers 2019 verbal commit RB Ronald Thompkins went down with a non-contact injury tonight in Grayson's opener on ESPNU. Looked like a knee. Thompkins missed all but six games last fall with a knee injury, too. https://t.co/VJRy0w0wGK

The problem for Husker fans is that Thompkins had very little impact on the game. He did manage to rush for 51 yards on just five carries. So when he was healthy and able to play, the Cornhusker commit looked good.
He even looked good when he ran for 22 yards late in the first half. That is he looked good until he fell to the turf with that apparent injury.
As the Gwinnett Gap reports, Thompkins didn’t return to the game. Grayson continued to roll even though he sat out the rest of the contest.
As of now there hasn’t been a comment or any more news on just how bad the injury was. Thompkins tweeted out before the game about his quarterback but he’s been silent since the game ended.
That could mean one of two things. The first is ok, because it means he hasn’t thought to let anyone know what’s going on. It has indeed only been a day.
The other reason why things might be all quiet on the injury news front, is because his knee isn’t feeling better today and they’re waiting to see what’s up. That would be bad news for the Nebraska football team and worse news for Ronald Thompkins. For now, it’s sit and wait and see what happens.
