Nebraska basketball makes the cut for talented center Chase Paar

The Nebraska basketball team lost a big man earlier this summer. Now the team is looking to add one to the 2019 recruiting class.

While the Nebraska basketball team is going to have to figure out a way to replace Jordy Tshimanga this season, the program is also looking to build for the future.

That future got a little bit brighter earlier this week when a 3-star prospect center out of Maryland named Nebraska among his final teams. Chase Paar has tallied 13 total offers, including some from top basketball teams in the country.

Corey Evans of Rivals reports Paar has decided to focus on five teams moving forward. Those five include Nebraska, Xavier, George Mason, Temple, and UMBC. The impressive list of suitors is undoubtedly going to be tough to beat for the Cornhuskers.

Standing at 6-9 and weighing in at 230 pounds already, the Maryland product is precisely the kind of size the Huskers are going to be looking for in 2019 and beyond. He won’t be able to replace Tshimanga this season, but he will fill a void that is going to plague the roster in the next few seasons.

To fill the big-man void, the Nebraska basketball team is going to need to live up to expectations this season. When a team is squaring off against schools like Temple and Xavier, it’s going to need to log a lot of wins.

The Cornhuskers are expected to have the kind of seasons that have been few and far between in Lincoln. Should Tim Miles get his team to play as it’s supposed to play in the 2018-19 season, it could signal a new era of Nebraska basketball. That era is one where the Huskers beat out the Xaviers and Temples for top prospects.
