Nebraska football: Scott Frost burglarized, has championship rings stolen
Police reports surfaced Monday morning that Nebraska football head coach Scott Frost had his home burglarized over the weekend.
Scott Frost‘s welcome back to Lincoln hit a big bump in the road over the weekend. The Nebraska football head coach reported to police Monday morning that his home had been burglarized.
The police reports surfaced on social media showing that this was no small robbery either. The total value of the coach’s loss totaled more than $165,000.
It appears that most of the items that were taken are sadly things that are going to be more valuable to Frost than they would be to someone in the general public. Included in the loss were two Nebraska football championship rings, 10 Oregon Duck championship rings and two UCF championship rings.
In other words, it appears any championship rings that Frost has amassed over his career have now been stolen. The burglars were reportedly able to get into the house because it was being renovated.
Unfortunately, someone left a garage entry door unlocked and the burglars were able to find the entrance. The good news, if there is any good news from a situation like this, is that the items are unique enough that it’s fairly easy to be on the lookout for them.
The bad news is that it’s not clear whether the burglars knew whose house they were going into. If they did know it was Frost’s and what those rings represent, they may already have buyers set to go for that kind of material.
The Lincoln Police are getting the word out about this robbery so that they won’t be able to be sold at local pawn shops. There isn’t any kind of way to know whether or not there is a realistic likelihood that the items will ever be returned or found.
This has to be an especially low blow for the Nebraska football coach, considering he starts his first official fall camp as the Huskers’ head coach in a matter of days. The news surrounding he and his team should have only been positive, for a little while at least.
