Nebraska football lands in Top 5 for Pennsylvania’s top prospect
The Nebraska football team has been turning heads. Now the Husker have landed in the Top 5 for one of the best cornerbacks in the 2019 class.
The Nebraska football has Joey Porter Jr’s attention. The cornerback, who is ranked as the top player in the state of Pennsylvania by 247Sports’ Composite rankings listed the Huskers among his final five teams on Thursday night.
Porter announced the schools he’s favoring on his Twitter account with a “sorry for the wait” message. In addition to the Cornhuskers, Porter is looking at Penn State, LSU, Miami, and Pitt.
The corner, out of Wexford is also the 32nd ranked corner in the entire 2019 class. At the moment, he’s got a grand total of 16 offers and there are plenty of Power 5 teams that just got left in the dust.
Arizona State, West Virginia and UCLA are just some of the schools that didn’t quite make the cut for the corner who looks to be just as good in coverage as he is stopping his assignment from getting additional yards.
There is, of course, the added bonus of the bloodline when it comes to Joey Porter Jr. The prospect’s father is none other than famed Pittsburgh Steeler linebacker Joey Porter.
That man was a sack machine back in his day and was part of the revamped and new and improved “Steel Curtain” defense of the early 2000’s. Obviously, the younger Porter is a completely different kind of player, but considering he’s a4-star caliber talent, he clearly inherited his father’s football skills.
The next question for the Nebraska football team is whether or not they can get him to Lincoln for a visit. Because Joey Porter Jr, has been pretty quiet on the recruiting front, it’s hard to tell what his next plans are and when he wants to decide on a school.
